Common Problems With Electrolux Built-In Ovens
Do you use your Electrolux built-in oven every day? Sometimes multiple times per day? If so, you’re not alone! After all, your oven is an important appliance in our homes that we typically rely on every single day. Fortunately, with proper maintenance, you should be able to use your built-in Electrolux oven for years. On the other hand, if you fail to clean your oven and have it serviced, its internal components are prone to breaking down more often. As a result, it’s a good idea to know some of the most common problems with Electrolux built-in ovens, and what you can do to try to resolve them yourself.
Let’s take a look.
Warning: You should never attempt to diagnose or repair your appliances while still plugged into a live power source. Always unplug or shut off the power first. Failure to do so may result in severe injury or electrocution.
Oven Won't Start
If you’re in a situation where the oven won’t start, you might have one of two issues; either an issue with your power supply, or a faulty door switch.
No Power Supply
One of the most common problems with Electrolux built-in ovens and other similar appliances is that there’s no power supply to the unit itself. So, if the power supply is off, out, or there’s damage to the power cord, your oven won’t start. To troubleshoot this issue, start by checking your breakers. Try turning the breaker off and on again. Next, test the outlet by plugging in a lamp or another device. If the device works, you can be certain that the power supply is, in fact, on and working properly.
Also, check the built-in oven power cord. If you see exposed wires or damage to the cord, it could explain why your oven won’t start. When working with electricity, it’s important to remember that safety comes first! Always turn off the power at your home’s main breaker panel before working with your appliance. And, especially when testing the power supply, make sure to take any other appropriate precautions. Better yet, contact us and let us send one of our trained professionals to your home to give you a hand. That way, there’s no risk of injury to yourself or risk of damage to your appliance.
Damaged Door Switch
A damaged door switch is another reason why your built-in Electrolux oven might not be starting.
The door switch controls the oven light, as well as letting the oven know when the door is closed, and safe to heat up. In some models, the door switch can also be locked, which also relates to the main control panel’s ability to communicate with the door switch.
Regardless, if the door switch is damaged or faulty, the oven light will likely stay on, and as part of the unit’s safety features, it won’t heat up either.

Oven Is Not Heating Properly
If your oven isn’t heating properly, this can cause problems, such as your food not being cooked evenly or it taking longer than usual for it to cook in the first place.
If this sounds familiar, you’ll want to check the thermostat, temperature sensor, and control board.
Thermostat Is Broken
An Electrolux built-in oven thermostat is the part that communicates with the control panel, responsible for raising and lowering heat output as needed.
Therefore, if the thermostat is broken, your oven likely won’t reach the right temperatures, or it might overheat. Regardless, it won’t be able to heat properly, and your food won’t cook the way you want, and expect it to. To test your oven’s thermostat, use an oven thermometer. Set the temperature of your built-in oven and put the oven thermometer on a rack. When the oven reaches the set temperature, check the oven thermometer. If the temperature is off, you likely have a broken oven thermostat. To know for sure whether or not an Electrolux built-in oven’s thermostat is broken, you’ll need a multimeter.
Malfunctioning Temperature Sensor
A temperature sensor is the oven part that alters the heat to make sure it remains at the right temperature. If the sensor is malfunctioning, your oven will generate inconsistent temperatures.
If you need help diagnosing a broken temperature sensor, don’t hesitate to contact us today.
Burnt Control Board
An oven’s control board is critical to the inner workings of your appliance.
The control board allows you to set the temperature, and control a range of other settings on your Electrolux built-in oven. You can tell you have a burnt control board if you try and turn on the oven, but it won’t start or respond to your touch. Or in some cases, your unit might give you an error code, which can be used to determine exactly which part of your oven is malfunctioning.
Alternatively, your oven might start, but it won’t reach the right temperature, or maybe only one element will work. Regardless, if the control board is burnt, fried, or simply malfunctioning, the timer settings and clock likely won’t work properly either.
